Hanging Egg Outdoor Chair by for .
Prior to graduating as a furniture designer from The School of Arts and Crafts and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1946, Nanna Ditzel worked as a cabinet maker. Shortly after graduating, Ditzel founded her own design studio with Jrgen Ditzel. Born in 1923, Ditzel was designing at a time where new materials and processes were emerging and produced innovative pieces in a wide array of materials including fibreglass, wicker and rubber
Despite working in a male-dominated industry, Ditzel succeeded in becoming a highly successful designer, with a career spanning 60 years. Her works are still in constant production to this day.
Produced by Sika as part of the Icons range, most of us are familiar with the iconic design of the egg-shaped chair floating in the air. The Hanging Egg Chair is a critically acclaimed design that has enjoyed praise worldwide ever since the distinctive sculptural shape was created by Nanna Ditzel in 1959.
